Project objective
For the launch of the newly developed, intelligent pressure regulating valve „NeoFlow“, a special e-learning module was to be created that would enable all international employees to build up in-depth knowledge of the product's area of application and specific benefits. The valve independently adapts the flow rate to changing requirements and pressures in the supply network - a technically sophisticated function that often involves complex physical relationships in practice.
The learning module was therefore designed in two parts: In the first part, the physical basics are clearly conveyed, while in the second part, learners experience the functionality and advantages of the new product in an interactive game scenario.
Realisation by ecolearn
For the development of the game scenario ecolearn commissioned. The challenge was to present physically correct correlations in an interactive, didactically meaningful and visually appealing way. Thanks to many years of experience in technical e-learning, the ecolearn team succeeded in creating a realistic and intuitive learning experience. The result was convincing: Subsequently, ecolearn was commissioned with the localisation into five other languages - today the module is available on German, English, French, Spanish, Italian and Chinese available.
Structure of the learning module
The e-learning programme includes five chapters:
- 1. introduction - Presentation of the characters and the 3D learning environment: a mountain landscape with water reservoir, industrial estate and valley village, connected by a supply network.
- 2. basics - Explanation of the piezometric line as an indicator of the line pressure.
- 3rd - 5th game scenarios - In three interactive scenes, learners try out different valve types and observe in real time how they affect pressure and flow in the network.
The learners receive dynamic, visual feedback: animations show the changed flow conditions and pressure lines, while the characters comment on what is happening, categorise it technically and give tips. In this way, the technical added value of the new valve can be experienced directly.
