About the project
Traditionally, the 3.5-year training programme for HVAC system mechanics tends to focus on how heating systems based on fossil fuels work. The "renewable energies" learning field only takes up a small part of the programme. The heat pump as the heating system of the future is clearly neglected - this was also shown by a survey of vocational schools, which would like support.
The German Heat Pump Association commissioned us to produce a comprehensive online training programme that is suitable for use both in vocational schools and as a learning app for trainees to ensure that the training is well equipped, including with attractive digital tools.
After around 1.5 years of development with several workshops and filming sessions (including at the Cologne HVAC guild and at the single-family house example project), 6 comprehensive learning modules have been created that cover the whole world of electric heat pumps, from the basics to new construction, refurbishment, operation and maintenance.
The "WP-Online" course is available free of charge to interested vocational schools. Together with the "Pellet-Online" course, it is part of the "Green Heat" course programme, which is supported by the German Central Association for Sanitary, Heating and Air Conditioning (ZVSHK).
